Pierre,SD : Retired state DENR scientist dies in Pierre ATV crash on November, Saturday 25th 2017

The man killed in an all-terrain-vehicle crash over the weekend in Pierre was a long-time scientist at the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources who retired in June.

John Miller, 65, was northbound about 4 p.m., Saturday on Cleveland Street in Pierre, the street he lived on, when the Suzuki ATV he was driving hit a tree.

Miller, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital by ambulance, then airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls where he died Sunday.
