NEWARK, DE : 4 people, including 6-year-old, hurt in Newark crash on Friday, 18th August, 2016

Delaware State Police say four people, including a 6-year-old, were injured when a tractor trailer rear-ended a pickup truck in Newark.

The agency said in a news release Monday that the crash occurred early Friday on South College Avenue. Troopers say a tractor trailer driven by 33-year-old Charles Bolton Jr. of Washington failed to stop at a red light.

Police say Bolton's vehicle rear-ended a pickup truck, which was operated by 65-year-old Clinton Peavy of Neptune, New Jersey.

Officials say the pickup truck burst into flames. Troopers and bystanders helped Peavy, his wife and a 6-year-old boy get out of the pickup.

The child was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pennsylvania. Peavy; his wife, whom police did not identify; and Bolton were taken to a local hospital.
