Baltimore MD : Girl killed, suspect flees scene on Tuesday night May 27th 2014.

A car being sought in the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old earlier this week crashed into another vehicle while eluding police on Tuesday night, killing a 12-year-old girl, police said. The suspect was able to escape the scene and remains at large.
It was one of two fatal crashes being investigated by homicide detectives on Tuesday night, police said.

The 12-year-old girl died when a Ford sedan that had been followed by police slammed into a minivan that was carrying her, a woman and another child, police said.

The man driving the white Ford, who ran away from the crash in the 1100 block of E. Preston St. and was not found Tuesday, is a person of interest in the killing of 16-year-old Oscar Torres in Southwest Baltimore Monday, Lt. Col. Keith Matthews said.

Earlier in the day, police issued an alert for a white Ford Fusion with Illinois tags, which they said was taken during the homicide around 1:45 a.m. Monday in the unit block of S. Mount Street.

The man was being followed by plain clothes officers before the crash, police said.

Police described him only as a black man with medium build wearing a white T-shirt and jeans.

Witnesses said he was speeding through an intersection around 8:30 p.m. when he hit the turning minivan, popping the air bags and totaling both cars. As the man ran off, neighbors and other onlookers rushed out into the street to help the occupants, and police had to cut one of them out, witnesses said. The occupants of the van were a mother and two daughters, police said.
