Knoxville, TN : Two Knoxville police officers were injured in a crash at Chapman Highway and Moody Avenue On Monday, August 1st, 2016

Two Knoxville police officers were injured in a crash while responding to assist other officers at the scene of an overnight shooting in South Knoxville, authorities said.

Around 11:20 p.m. Monday, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a disturbance call on Daylily Drive in Montgomery Village, according to KPD. The call was later upgraded to a shooting with a victim.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with at least one gunshot wound.

While officers were directing EMTs and first responders from the Knoxville Fire Department to the scene, additional gunshots were fired from a couple of buildings away from where the officers were assisting the victim, KPD

said. The officers then called for other officers to help establish a perimeter to allow first responders to reach the victim safely.

Two officers who responded were involved in a crash at the intersection of Chapman Highway and Moody Avenue, police said. Officer Jordan Henderson was traveling west on Moody and Officer Zach Wilson was headed

south on Chapman when their vehicles struck each other in the intersection.

Both officers were taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where they were being evaluated, police said. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries, according to KPD.

Both officers had their emergency lights and siren on.

The shooting victim was taken to UT Medical Center, where he was being treated for a potentially life-threatening injury, police said.

Police said the man was shot by an acquaintance during an ongoing dispute.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
