Yakima, WA : Pasco died in a three-car collision on Interstate 82 on Sunday, October, 29th 2017

Two young women from Pasco died in a three-car collision on Interstate 82 one mile west of Benton City early Sunday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Mariah M. Loera, 20, was struck and killed at the scene, authorities reported, while her passenger, Flora E. Leal, 22, died at Kadlec Regional Medical Center following the 5:21 a.m. accident at milepost 95.

Loera was eastbound when her Nissan Pathfinder left the roadway to the left; she overcorrected, causing it to roll. It came to rest on its top, blocking the right lane.

Leal was partially ejected, State Patrol said.

Daniel Lopez, 47, of Prosser was eastbound approaching milepost 95 when his Honda Accord struck Loera’s car; it came to rest on the right shoulder. Authorities said Loera then left her car to talk to Lopez.

At that point Christopher A. Fleming, 45, of Grandview was approaching mile post 95; his Nissan Sentra also struck Loera’s car before hitting her and the rear of Lopez’ car, according to the State Patrol.

Fleming was not injured but his passenger, Carigan A. Soria, 21, of Grandview was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center. Her condition was not immediately available.

All lanes of traffic on I-82 near Benton City were closed at milepost 95 for a short time and the eastbound lanes were closed for a few hours.
