Lakeland, FL : 3-vehicle crash on I-4 kills Lakeland man on Wednesday, 24th August, 2016

A Lakeland man was killed Wednesday as a result of a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 4.

Matthew Lind, 32, died at the scene of the accident, which took place around 5 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lind was traveling eastbound in a 2014 Mazda 6 on I-4 near Interstate 75. He was trailing a 2016 Ford F-350 being driven by Jerry Leab, 49, of Zephyrhills, and a 2015 Dodge PK driving by Tucker Prescott, 24, of Orlando.

According to the FHP, all three vehicles were traveling in the left lane when traffic came to a stop. Leab and Prescott were able to stop their vehicles, but Lind collided with the back of Leab’s vehicle. That propelled the vehicle forward and caused Leab to crash into the rear of Prescott’s vehicle.

Lind was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the report. Both Leab and Prescott were wearing seatbelts and sustained no injuries.
