Loveland, CO : Car crashes into wall in downtown Loveland on Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Police responded to a one-car accident just after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Southeast Third Street and Railroad Avenue in Loveland.

Reports indicate a mechanic was test-driving a 1969 Pontiac Firebird when he lost control of the car and drove into the wall of the old water treatment facility.

Loveland Fire Rescue Authority Battalion Chief Jason Starck said the driver told crews the throttle stuck while he was approaching the curve.

Firefighters popped the door open to get the man safely out of the Pontiac.

The driver was then taken to a hospital by a Thompson Valley Emergency Medical Services for treatment of minor head injuries.

The owner of the Firebird, who declined to be named, said his grandmother bought the car new off the showroom floor.
