Indianapolis, IN : Motorcyclist crashes on I-65 on Thursday, 13th September 2018

A motorcyclist was thrown from his bike early this morning when he hit traffic barrel supports in the middle of I-65 where traffic was down to one lane due to construction, Indiana State Police said.
According to police, a preliminary investigation by Trooper Nicholas Price revealed at approximately 12:04 a.m. Thursday, September 13, a 2013 Triumph motorcycle, driven by Derek Duvall, 36, of Lake Village, was north bound on I-65 at the 240.2 mile marker, near the Lowell exit, when he hit the rubber traffic barrel supports that were in the middle of the interstate.
Police said Duvall lost control of his motorcycle after hitting the barrel supports and went off to the right, sliding along with the bike until he hit the ditch on the east side of the road. This caused Duvall to be thrown from the motorcycle and come to rest approximately five feet away. Duvall sustained injuries including a fractured ankle and road rash and was taken to Saint Anthony’s Hospital in Crown Point.
Duvall was wearing a helmet, which saved him from injuries to the head, according to ISP.
Assisting were Troopers William Stancy and Zach Beaver, Lowell EMS, and Cheever’s Towing.
