A Pierson woman was killed late Wednesday afternoon when her car collided head-on with a pickup near Orange City, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said. Patricia King, 51, was eastbound on Howland Boulevard when her 2009 Kia Rio, for unknown reasons, swerved into the westbound lanes and struck Kyle Culbertson’s 2004 Chevrolet pickup just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said. King was pronounced dead at the scene, on the overpass of North Woodland Boulevard. Culbertson, 44, of Orange City was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach with critical injuries, Montes said. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the wreck, troopers said. The collision remains under investigation, Montes said.
