Fredericksburg, VA : A 19-year-old Sumerduck man died in a single-vehicle crash on Thursday, July 13, 2017

A 19-year-old Sumerduck man died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday morning.

Edward Paul Davis Jr. was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu south on Union Church Road in the Sumerduck area of Fauquier County at 7 a.m. when the crash happened, according to Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler.

The car ran off the right side of the road just south of Fairhaven Lane. Davis, who was not wearing a seat belt, lost control of the car and swerved back onto the road. The car then ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree.

Davis was flown to Mary Washington Hospital, where he died at 8:30 a.m.

The investigation is being handled by Trooper T.B. Ralls.
