STRONGSVILLE, OH : Two children died during a car crash on Saturday, June 10, 2017

Two children died during a car crash after a deer ran onto the Ohio Turnpike early Saturday morning.

The crash happened just before 4:30 a.m. on the turnpike in Strongsville. Two adults and three children were taken to Metro Health, according to a news release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Two of the children were pronounced dead at the hospital. The two adults and the other child suffered non-life threatening injuries, the release says.

A black 2010 Subaru Outback was eastbound on the turnpike when the deer ran onto the road. The car swerved to miss the deer and was hit in the back by a white 2007 Freightliner, the release says.

The car hit the deer and went off the left side of the road. The Freightliner stopped in the road.

The occupants in the back were extricated by the Strongsville Fire Department.
