Man killed in motorcycle crash on freeway connector

A man killed in a single-motorcycle crash on a freeway connector ramp in Mission Valley was publicly identified Saturday as a 57-year-old El Cajon resident.
Joseph Clinton Evans was riding his motorcycle on the transition road from northbound state Route 163 to westbound Interstate 8 about 2:15 a.m. Friday, when he apparently lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail, according the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
A passerby found him lying on the guardrail near his downed 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Evans died at the scene, authorities said. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the CHP said.
