SUV crushed by tree just before owner climbs in Birmingham,Alabama

A Woodlawn resident had a crushing surprise as he went to get into his SUV Thursday night.Jason Cooke says that just before he was ready to go outside and climb into his white SUV, a huge tree fell onto it, nearly crushing it in half.He hasn't even owned for a year and he just got it back from the shop Thursday.

"It was nearly midnight. I was planning on going to get a couple of tacos and I thank the Lord it happened when it did because I literally probably would have been in the vehicle," said Cooke.
Cooke says he called police around 11:35 p.m.Thursday to report the damage and says on his YouTube page that the tree would have likely destroyed his home if if had fallen a different way. Cooke has security cameras installed at his home and one filmed the tree as it fell on the SUV.

Cooke says the tree was already rotting and leaning. He thinks Thursday's heavy rain may have been too much for it.
