One person died and another was injured in a one-vehicle crash early Thursday morning southwest of Abernathy.
According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Xavier Martinez, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene, on FM 2528 just north of CR 5100 in Lubbock County.
A passenger, Martin Lee Peek, 36, of Abernathy was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock. He reportedly suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators said Martinez was driving a pickup truck northbound on FM 2528 when the vehicle ran off the edge of the roadway. When Martinez overcorrected, the vehicle overturned. Martinez, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.
The mishap is still under investigation, DPS reports.
