MUNCIE, IN : One killed in Ind. 67 accident east of Daleville on Sunday, 14th July 2019

An Anderson man was killed Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on Ind. 67 east of Daleville.

Warren Allen, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, west of Delaware County Road 750-W.

Indiana State Police said Allen's Chrysler Pacifica was westbound on the four-lane state highway when, "for an unknown reason," the vehicle left the north side of the road and struck a mail box.

The minivan then returned to the highway, but again went off the north side of the road, rolling "numerous times" down an embankment and coming to rest on its roof.

Allen, the only occupant of the Pacifica, was not wearing a seat belt, and was ejected.

Trent Jones, an ISP trooper, arrived at the scene to find citizens performing CPR on the victim. The trooper used a defibrillator in an effort to resuscitate Allen, but those efforts were unsuccessful.

Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell said an autopsy would be conducted, likely on Monday, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital

While the cause of the accident remains under investigation pending toxicology results, "it is believed alcohol and/or drugs may have been a contributing factor," according to an ISP release.
