Woman killed in multi-car Franklin County crash

The Gill Police Department has identified the 28-year-old woman who was killed in a multi-car crash Saturday night.Sgt. Christopher Redmond told CBS 3 that Theresa Pendleton of Erving, MA, died after her 2010 Honda Fit was struck by another vehicle. Once that vehicle bounced off the Honda, it hit another car.Pendleton was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.Six other people involved in the crash were also taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.The crash happened on Route 2, near the intersection with Setback Lane, around 7:45 p.m. and closed that part of the highway for a little over two hours.Redmond said road conditions were poor at the time of crash, as snow squalls had come through the area and the roads were icy. He said the conditions hampered response vehicle time, but the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
