Two people were killed and a third injured in a crash in Spencer County.

The two-vehicle crash happened on 31E near Old Louisville Road and Stringer Lane before noon Thursday.

Joanne Wyman, 72, and Donna Root, 76, were in one car and killed. They were from Michigan and visiting family in Spencer County.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital.

The road is closed in the area while police investigate.

The road reopened just after 2 p.m.
