Shawnee, OK : Bicyclist dies after U.S. 177 accident on Monday, August 15, 2016

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a bicyclist on U.S. 177.

David W. Collins, 52, of Shawnee, was riding a bicycle in that area when the accident occurred.
The accident occurred about 12:25 a.m. Monday on southbound U.S. 177 just south of Acme Road.

Collins was transported by REACT EMS ambulance to St. Anthony Shawnee Hospital Emergency Room, where he was pronounced dead from massive head trauma, the OHP said.

The vehicle involved was a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia 125 driven by Richard Curtis Johnson, 57, of Blackwell, the OHP said. He was not injured.

There is no narrative on the OHP report, which lists the cause and what happened as still being under investigation.
