Durango, CO : Three people died, three others were injured in head-on crash on US 550 north of Durango on Wednesday morning July 30th 2014

Authorities say three people were killed and three others were injured in a head-on crash north of Durango.

Cpl. Chris Balenti of the Colorado State Patrol tells The Durango Herald a southbound car crossed the centerline of U.S. 550 about 15 miles north of the city and struck an SUV head-on just before 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. Two people in the car and one person in the SUV were killed.

Their names and ages have not been released.

Balenti says investigators do not know if speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The conditions of the three people who were injured have not been released.
