Auburn Hills, MI : Man killed after head-on crash with gravel truck on Opdyke near Knollwood on Thursday, January 5, 2017

A 71-year-old Pontiac man was killed after police say his maroon Chevrolet Equinox "drifted" into oncoming traffic and struck a gravel truck head-on in Auburn Hills about 11 a.m. Thursday.

The driver, who was southbound on Opdyke near Knollwood in Auburn Hills, then ricocheted into a blue Ford sedan. Neither the driver of the Ford nor the gravel truck were injured.

The victim's name hasn't been released by police.

The fuel tank to the gravel truck ruptured and fuel spilled in the road.

The Auburn Hills Fire Department and Oakland County Hazmat Team contained and cleaned the spill while the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality was notified.
