Seattle, WA : Pedestrian killed, woman arrested in N. Seattle hit-and-run crash on Sunday evening, January 1, 2017

A woman is under arrest following a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Sunday evening in North Seattle, police said.
The incident unfolded just before 7 p.m. as the woman was heading north in her vehicle on Wallingford Avenue North, said Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle police.
Another woman was walking across Wallingford Avenue at North 82nd Street when she was struck by the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene, and witnesses called 911 after seeing the victim in the street. Seattle Fire Department medics arrived and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
A short time later a woman came back to the scene and told officers she had been driving the vehicle that struck the pedestrian.
The woman was taken into custody and evaluated for signs of impairment by a drug recognition expert officer, which is standard practice. She was then booked into the King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide.
The investigation continues.
