Man struck and killed walking in Bellmead Texas

A man was killed when an SUV struck him as he walked on the Interstate 35 access road in Bellmead Friday afternoon, according to police.

Authorities were working Friday afternoon to determine the man’s identity and locate his next-of-kin. The man, who was described as white and possibly in his mid-30s, had luggage with him but did not appear to be carrying identification, said Bellmead Detective Michael Miller.

Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene of the reported accident on the southbound I-35 service road near the 338A exit at 2:15 p.m.

Investigators said they believe the victim was walking north on the access road when a woman, traveling south in an SUV, struck him.
The driver, who was not identified, was visibly shaken following the accident, but did not appear to be physically injured, according to officials.
She was issued no citations, Miller added.
