Mauldin, SC : 35-year-old Douglas Scott Cornett dead after crash on Log Shoals near Mauldin on Thursday night, August 25, 2016

Troopers said one person is dead after a crash on Log Shoals near Mauldin late Thursday night.

The crash happened around 11:35 p.m.

Troopers said a car was heading east when it crossed the center line, hit an embankment and overturned. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene.

The coroner identified the victim as 35-year-old Douglas Scott Cornett of Dunwoody Drive in Simpsonville.

No one else was in the car, troopers said.
