At least two people suffered critical injuries in vehicle collision

A Highway 101 onramp in northern Santa Rosa was expected to be closed until Friday afternoon due to a three-vehicle crash, the CHP said.

At least two people suffered critical injuries Friday morning after a garbage truck, pickup and another vehicle collided on an onramp from River Road to Highway 101, according to the CHP.

The garbage truck overturned in the collision and a county hazardous materials response responded due to spilled hydraulic fluid.

Two ambulances responded to the 10 a.m. crash and two people were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Initial reports indicated firefighters needed to cut at least one person free from the wreckage.

The CHP said the garbage truck collided with the two vehicles and overturned onto a southbound onramp lane from westbound River Road. The intersection is just southwest of Larkfield.

A light pole also was knocked down in the crash and the eastbound River Road lane to Highway 101 was closed. CHP officials expected it would remain closed until at least 1:15 p.m.
