Columbia , TN : Two motorists were Killed after Three Car accident on Tuesday Morning , December 23rd 2014one pedestrian to the hospital Tuesday night.

A Tuesday morning car accident on Bear Creek Pike left two motorists dead two days before Christmas.

Brandon Keith Burroughs, 26, of Maury County, and Booker T. Cowan Jr., 45, of Madison, Alabama, were confirmed dead as a result of the three-car accident, Columbia Police Capt. Jeremy Alsup said.

Burroughs was a 2007 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended Columbia State Community College and Martin Methodist College.

The accident, which occurred shortly before 4:30 a.m., also involved a 25-year-old female who was transported to Maury Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Alsup said.

The incident happened about three miles west of Interstate 65, and limited the traffic flow on Bear Creek Pike to one lane for most of the morning as police urged motorists to consider taking alternate routes.

Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Critical Incident Response Team aided CPD in clearing the accident scene.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon, Alsup said.

“With three cars being involved and it being such a widespread scene, we’re going to rely on the information we get from the CIRT team, and that can sometimes take a few days,” he said. “Before we release anything that says, ‘This is what happened,’ we want to make sure this investigation has covered all bases and possibilities.”
