Two people in the overturned car were hospitalized with minor injuries, officials said.

The crash happened about 11:30 a.m. when a vehicle failed to maintain its lane, hitting the left side of the car and causing it to veer off the freeway and overturn in the rocks on the shoulder, Trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

The driver who caused the crash left but was arrested nearby, Buratczuk said. He was being booked on counts of suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, Buratczuk said.

The wreck temporarily closed the right lane and snarled traffic.
