A man has died after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross Route 1 in North Kingstown Wednesday night.
North Kingstown Police Capt. Paul Barry said Thursday that 52-year-old Peter Munroe was trying to cross Post Rd around 5:20 p.m. after leaving a nearby Stop & Shop, where he worked.
After being rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with severe injuries on Wednesday evening, Munroe was pronounced dead by medical personnel.
According to Police, Munroe was hit by a vehicle traveling in the right northbound lane.
The driver, identified as 56-year-old Edmund Casey of East Greenwich, told police he didn't see Munroe, who might have been walking to a bus stop.
Casey is not facing any charges at this point.
Police are still investigating.
