La Honda, CA : Woodside man struck and killed head-on by another car on Highway 84 west of La Honda on Sunday evening, March 27, 2016

A Woodside man was killed Sunday evening when his Honda was struck head-on by another car on Highway 84 west of La Honda, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The man, whose identity was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by emergency responders.

Shortly before 7 p.m., Redwood City officers received a call about a two-vehicle crash, with one of the cars overturned on the highway, also known as La Honda Road, according to CHP spokesman Art Montiel.

The white 1992 Honda was traveling eastbound when a white 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck traveling westbound crossed the double-yellow lines directly into the Honda's path. The vehicles collided and the pickup overturned. The truck's driver ran into the woods, witnesses said, and has not been located.

It is not known whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
