ORANGE COUNTY, FL : 1 killed in crash that shut down SR-417 in Orange County on Wednesday, 24th May 2023

A 69-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that shut down the northbound lanes of State Road 417 in Orange County for hours on Wednesday.

The crash happened Wednesday morning near mile marker 24, south of State Road 528. The lanes were closed around 6:20 a.m., but reopened hours later, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a tweet.

According to the FHP, a Dodge Challenger was heading north on SR-417 when the driver, an 18-year-old Orlando man, lost control while attempting to change lanes and hit a concrete barrier.

The vehicle went into the path of a Ford Escape that was also heading north and struck it, causing the Ford to overturn.
