Victoria,TX : Single-vehicle rollover wreck kills Victoria man on January, Friday 12th 2018

A single-vehicle wreck in Jackson County resulted in the death of a Victoria man.

Anthony Lee Montoya, 38, was traveling east about 6:40 a.m. Friday on Farm-to-Market Road 616, about 1.9 miles west of Vanderbilt, said Sgt. Ruben San Miguel, a spokesman with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Montoya was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pickup when he drove off the right side of the road, then turned to the left and then drove across the road into a westbound ditch, San Miguel said.

Montoya then oversteered to the right to get back on the road, causing the vehicle to go into a side skid.

The vehicle rolled at least three times and came to rest on the roof, San Miguel said.

It was not known Friday if Montoya was wearing a seat belt.

Montoya was pronounced dead at the scene Friday by Justice of the Peace Darren Stancik of Jackson County.

The wreck is under investigation.
