Sacramento, CA : Multivehicle crash snarls traffic on Thursday, October 5, 2017

A multivehicle crash and a second nearby accident backed up traffic along northbound Interstate 5 and Highway 120 near Manteca on Thursday evening, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The CHP Tracy office said officers were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. to the first accident, involving at least three cars, and a second crash in the center divider nearby. An officer at the scene said the crash was caused by cars following too close to one another in stop-and-go traffic. By 7 p.m., traffic was heavy but moving. It is unknown if there were any injuries.
