Las Cruces, N.M : 6-year-old child killed in hit-and-run crash in Anthony Thursday evening, August 25, 2016

Authorities are continuing to search for the driver of a white Ford pickup who fatally struck a 6-year-old child on a bike on Thursday evening in Anthony, New Mexico.

Police on Friday confirmed the identity of the boy who was killed in the hit-and-run crash: Sebastian Angel Fragoso of Anthony, N.M.

The fatality sparked an outpouring of both grief and anger among residents of the 9,400-person community, which borders Texas.

Police are looking for a white Ford pickup, captured on security cameras at the Anthony Water & Sanitation District building, located on Fourth Street.

"We've posted photos (of the truck) both on social media and sent them to the media," said city Police Chief Joe Baca on Friday. "But at this time, we're still trying to canvass the area, gather more information, as well as still looking for the vehicle."
