KANKAKEE, IL : Kankakee man killed in single-vehicle accident on Saturday, 10th March 2018

Dayrius Kennedy, of Kankakee, died as a result injuries sustained when his pickup truck crashed into a tree in the 500 block of North Schuyler Avenue on Saturday.

According to Kankakee County coroner Bob Gessner, the 29-year-old Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 11:40 p.m.

According to a release from Kankakee police, the crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Gessner said Kennedy's truck was northbound on Schuyler when he lost control after the railroad track. The truck crossed over into the southbound lane and crashed into the tree.

Gessner said Kennedy was not wearing a seat belt. The driver's side of the pickup sustained heavy damage.
